What is it you do?
‘Au Coeur de Han’ is a bed and breakfast in the picturesque heart of Han-sur-Lesse, known for its world-famous caves and wildlife park where you can admire the European Big Five.
We offer you a warm welcome in our 6 rooms and make your holiday a home from home.
Our B&B is not only a good starting point for hikers/cyclists, but also for guests looking for peace and quiet: we have a large garden with an outdoor swimming pool heated in season, a petanque court, sunny and shady areas and a large enclosed private car park.
We also offer the possibility of renting our jacuzzi privately in a separate, enclosed garden area to relax in peace and quiet.
You can enjoy a drink or two on one of our terraces or in our cosy bar in the main building or in our poolside bar.
In the mornings we serve our guests a hearty buffet breakfast, with fresh fruit, eggs prepared ‘à la minute’, freshly squeezed fruit juices, homemade bread, homemade granola and homemade jams (thanks Dad Thomas!), and many other goodies!
The enclosed private car park is also a plus in the sometimes busy Han-sur-Lesse area.’
What prompted you to seek "Famenne-Ardenne UNESCO Global Geopark Partner" status?
‘We are proud to live in such a valuable geological area and we want to pass this on to our customers.
High-quality regional products, combined with a sustainable way of treating people and materials, are a priority for us.’
What is your approach to sustainable development and environment friendly practices?
‘In designing the total renovation of our B&B, we gave priority to sustainable renovation of the building (insulation of windows, doors, roofs and walls), sustainable heating of buildings and water through the use of heat pumps. All our lighting is LED and, where possible, also equipped with sensors, so that the lights are not left on unnecessarily.
We produce the electricity we need via around a hundred photovoltaic panels, making us completely self-sufficient for a large part of the year.
We have also invested in 7 recharging points (3 accessible only to our guests, and 4 recharging points that are also accessible to the public).
We hope this will contribute to sustainable energy transport...’
