What is it you do?
‘Wild Cube is an ECO-logical holiday home designed with respect for nature. It was built in the style of a modern Walloon wood and straw hut. It has all the classic comforts and 44m² of living space. It is located a stone's throw from Durbuy, in a quiet, wooded residential area. Our accommodation has a Nordic bath (filled with water from the rainwater recovery tank and heated with wood) and a covered terrace. It can accommodate up to 6 people. It is ideal for 4 adults and 2 children. The bedroom opening onto the lounge area on the ground floor has a king-size bed. A second bedroom has a double bed and a bunk bed.’
What prompted you to seek "Famenne-Ardenne UNESCO Global Geopark Partner" status?
‘The Geopark is totally complementary to the way we have designed our accommodation. The ecological construction of the building was important to us, and now it's also important for us to promote it via a tourist operator with sustainable values. We want to promote a quality service while making our guests aware of our sustainable, ecological values and the local, artisanal products that we promote.’
What is your approach to sustainable development and environment friendly practices?
‘The Wild Cube is an ecological and sustainable living space. It is made entirely of Walloon wood. 99% of its materials are ecological and natural, and therefore have a low environmental impact. It has been awarded Q-Zen passive house status, and is therefore equipped with a heat pump, straw insulation and triple glazing, for example. The accommodation has a rainwater recovery tank, which supplies the outdoor Nordic bath and the sanitary facilities in the gîte. A waste sorting system has also been put in place.
