What is it you do?
‘A small brewery was built in Rochefort in 1899, but it was not until 1952 and 1953 that it really took off.
From then on, the monastery's entire economy revolved around it.’
What prompted you to seek "Famenne-Ardenne UNESCO Global Geopark Partner" status?
‘Because of the limestone subsoil, the water, an extremely important raw material in terms of quantity and quality, comes directly from the Tridaine spring located in the Geopark area.
This spring draws its water from the water table near the abbey. No chemical, physical or other treatment is applied to this water, which is naturally pure as it gushes from the spring.’
What is your approach to sustainable development and environment friendly practices?
‘We are focused on rationalising our consumption of raw materials and energy.
In 2020, the brewery will be equipped with a brand new state-of-the-art brewhouse! A new jewel in the brewing crown, combining state-of-the-art technology with optimisation of the production process’.
