Bells and carillons
Tellin, the town of the Bell and the Carillon, is known throughout Europe for its former bell foundry. Nestled between the Ardennes and the Famenne, its listed sites, historic monuments and splendid panorama's can be discovered through plentiful waymarked walks.
Slightly set apart from the village of Bure, you can admire the Our-Lady of Haurt Chapel. Follow the long lane of linden trees and the 7 niches that evoke the pains endured by the Holy Virgin ; they will lead you towards the chapel. In Grupont, you can admire the “Maison espagnole” (or Spanish house) a beautiful half-timbered building dating back to the late 16th century. It was once the village inn but also, for several centuries, where the court of justice met to dispense justice
Edmond d'Hoffschmidt, quite a colourful local character, lived in seclusion for several years on the heights of the splendid village of Resteigne, which is crossed by the river Lesse. You can discover his story and the remains of this hermitage on the “Bois de Niau” hill.
Each year in Tellin, to celebrate our National Holiday, you can feast you eyes on the biggest fire works show in Wallonia!
