What is it you do?
"The Domain of the Caves of Han is an internationally recognised tourist attraction, centred around the Caves of Han. Famed for the extraordinary beauty of their stalactite and stalagmite formations and vast chambers, carved out by the River Lesse that flows the length of the underground system, Han Caves have exercised their fascination for close on 250 years, attracting something like 30 million visitors over that time. Also part of the Domain is the Han-sur-Lesse Wildlife Park, the only park of its kind in Belgium that is home to Europe's 'Big Five':wolf, bear, lynx, European bison and wolverine. All that, plus panoramic views and examples of rare or unusual plants and trees."
What prompted you to seek "Famenne-Ardenne UNESCO Global Geopark Partner" status?
"The Caves of Han lie at the heart of the Geopark and we were among the first partners to launch and support the Geopark project from its outset. This is a major geological site and tourist attraction right in the middle of the Geopark."
What is your approach to sustainable development and environment friendly practices?
"We are committed to a number of sustainable development initiatives and eco-friendly practices, such as selective waste sorting, saving energy, installing LED lighting in the caves, using electric vehicles in the Wildlife Park and so on."
